The BPW Breast Cancer Fund was created by Past State President Suzanne Dalton (1990-91) to offer hope and help to those facing this insidious disease. Any BPW Florida member in good standing may request a $250 grant on behalf of a Florida resident (member or non-member) who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, determined to be at high risk, or received mammogram results requiring further testing. Darby Jones, a Florida native, is an attorney and member of the Florida Bar and Maryland Bar. Darby served as a trust officer for financial institutions in Maryland for over 15 years before establishing Professional Fiduciary Services, LLC in her home state, Florida, in 2011 to serve in a variety of fiduciary capacities including Trustee, Agent under Power of Attorney, Health Care Surrogate, Personal Representative, and Professional Guardian.

After over 15 years, Darby now focuses on providing consulting support for other Professional Fiduciaries, individuals, family members, or advisors needing guidance or practical solutions for the care of a loved one or a client. https://www.professionalfiduciaryconsulting.com/ Facing the responsibility of another person’s life can often be an urgent situation and most people are left not knowing what the safest next steps should be. Darby graduated from American University, Washington College of Law in Washington D.C. after completing her first year at Stetson College of Law, in St. Petersburg.

Darby has been an active member and presenter for Bar Associations, Estate Planning Councils, charitable boards, Aging Academy, and various organizations throughout her career speaking on a variety of fiduciary and aging related topics.

Our Book Club Mission: This book club will focus on stories written by women, about women, and for women. Our aim is to create a space where pages come alive with conversation, where every chapter sparks reflection, and where words become tools for growth, empathy, and action.

We will select a book that either highlights women’s journeys, is authored by women, or offers wisdom and guidance for women in all walks of life.
Selections will span genres—memoir, fiction, self-development, and beyond—ensuring our reading list is as diverse and dynamic as the women in our group.
We have developed a list of suggestions provided by previous Book Club members and we all agreed these are great books. If you have books you’d like to suggest we add to this list, please email BPW/FL and we can add to the master list.
Our gatherings will foster thoughtful discussion, mutual encouragement, and the sharing of personal insights, forging bonds among members and igniting new perspectives.

Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr

Cloud Cuckoo Land follows five characters whose stories, despite spanning nearly six centuries, are bound together by their mutual love for a single book. Twelve-year-old Anna, an orphan, lives inside the formidable walls of Constantinople in a house of women who make their living embroidering the robes of priests. Restless, insatiably curious, Anna learns to read, and in this ancient city, famous for its libraries, she finds a codex containing the story of Aethon, which she reads to her ailing sister as the walls of the only place she has known are bombarded in the great siege of Constantinople. Outside the walls is Omeir, a village boy, miles from home, conscripted with his beloved oxen into the invading army. Soon, their paths will cross.

Five hundred years later, in a library in Idaho, octogenarian Zeno, who learned Greek as a prisoner of war, rehearses five children in a play adaptation of Aethon’s story, preserved against all odds through centuries.
